Tennessee's State Scenic Parkway System: Primarily two-lane roads through the countryside and small towns. The routes are marked on the state maps and along the way with a mockingbird sign perched atop the highway route numbers. (The mockingbird is Tennessee's state bird.)
The Tennessee Parkway System was established by the Tennessee Legislature to provide a road system to promote the scenic assets and recreational resources for the enjoyment of our citizens and visitors alike. The Tennessee Parkway System is a network of highways that intersect with our interstate highways allowing travelers to exit the interstates and explore the countryside.
The Parkway routes are designated on "The official Tennessee Transportation Maps" and these maps are available at all interstate rest areas and welcome centers. The maps can be obtained, free of charge, by requesting the maps from the Tennessee Department of Transportation Map Sales Office at Suite 300, James K. Polk Building, 505 Deaderick Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37243-0345. Maps can be ordered online at HERE. The maximum number of maps per individual is five (5) each. Organizations can order one box (300 maps).
